Press release: Sodexo improves service provision to customers and consumers with acquisition of Dutch start-up XXImo

17 March 2016

Paris, 17 March 2016 – We are proud to announce that XXImo, based in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands will be gradually taken over by Sodexo Benefits and Rewards Services, one arm of global service provider Sodexo.

The acquisition enables Sodexo Benefits and Rewards to help its customers raise employees’ quality of life to a higher level by means of an innovative mobility platform for commuting and business travel. Organisations can then offer their employees new benefits for added convenience and efficiency in their daily work. The acquisition will enable a rapid roll-out of XXImo to other countries, starting with Germany.

XXImo is the company behind the XXImo Mobility Cards, a single solution for commuters and business travellers to travel hassle-free by car, taxi, train, tram, bus, shared car, public transport bicycle and plane, which also makes it easy to pay for parking, hotels and even business lunches.

XXImo has developed its own platform and commercial network, which means the process of payment, invoicing and cost allocation is fully digitised. Thanks to the acquisition by Sodexo, XXImo can continue to invest in the platform, extend its commercial network and further develop its product portfolio. In this way, customers are offered an even better experience, including a large group of Sodexo customers.

Philippe Symons, CEO of Sodexo Benefits and Rewards Services Belux, explains: ‘The acquisition of XXImo means a further improvement in our already solid offer of benefits and mobility solutions for employees. Thanks to our solutions, our customers and users can focus on their main tasks and don’t have to worry about the logistics aspects. Our solutions guarantee convenience and efficiency in their daily work and a better work-life balance – essential factors that improve the quality of life of employees in today’s competitive economy.’

Patrick Bunnik, CEO of XXImo, agrees: ‘Following our success in the Netherlands and Belgium, where we started operating in 2013, we planned a phased international roll-out. We are confident that this acquisition by Sodexo will enable us to implement that international roll-out much faster. The fact that we are now part of a service organisation that operates globally definitely means added value for our new and existing customers, merchants and resellers.’

Bunnik remains CEO of XXImo and will continue to work with Lex Broekhuizen (CFO) and a dedicated team from the company’s headquarters in ‘s-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands.
